1. Determine the Required Bore Size

For example, 232/500CA/W33 and 249/1120CA/W33 are equipped with W33 lubrication features as standard. For some models without W33, customized lubrication groove designs can also be provided upon request.

4. Select Appropriate Internal Clearance

Internal clearance compensates for thermal expansion and shaft deformation during operation:

  • C3 Clearance – Standard clearance for most heavy industrial applications.
  • C4 Clearance – Recommended for higher operating temperatures, heavy interference fits or severe vibration conditions. Frequently used in kiln equipment, vibrating screens and rolling mills.

For demanding applications, models such as 232/530MB/W33 and 231/800 are commonly supplied with C4 clearance.

5. Tapered Bore Option (K Suffix)

Tapered bore spherical roller bearings simplify installation and removal on large shafts when used with adapter sleeves or withdrawal sleeves. This design is particularly beneficial for heavy equipment maintenance where hydraulic mounting methods are preferred.

Most large spherical roller bearing models can be manufactured with tapered bore configurations according to customer requirements.
