An electric hoist is an electrically driven lifting device, mainly composed of components such as an electric motor, reducer, drum, brake, steel wire rope (or chain), and hook. Its working principle is that the electric motor drives the reducer to rotate the drum, causing the steel wire rope (or chain) to wind or unwind, thereby realizing the lifting and lowering of heavy objects.

According to differences in usage scenarios, performance parameters, and structural design, electric hoists can be divided into the following main types, each with unique advantages and applicable scopes:

Wire Rope Electric Hoist

double-wire-hoist

As a common type, the wire rope electric hoist uses a steel wire rope as the lifting medium and is suitable for various heavy-duty handling and hoisting operations. It features a compact structure, simple operation, and large lifting capacity. According to the usage environment and purpose, it can be further divided into various subtypes such as ordinary industrial use, explosion-proof type, metallurgical use, marine use, and low headroom type, which can meet the special needs of different scenarios.

Chain Electric Hoist

Different from the wire rope electric hoist, the chain electric hoist uses a round chain as the lifting medium and has the advantages of a sturdy structure, wear resistance, and easy maintenance. It can be divided into single-hoist and group-hoist types according to usage conditions: single-hoist refers to a single electric hoist lifting an object, and group-hoist refers to two or more electric hoists lifting the same object in coordination.

Mini Electric Hoist

The mini electric hoist is small in size, light in weight, and easy to carry, making it suitable for hoisting operations in narrow spaces or where frequent movement is required. It is usually equipped with a remote control function, which makes the operation more flexible and convenient and can adapt to scenarios with higher flexibility requirements.

4. Other Special Types

In addition to the above main types, there are electric hoists designed for special scenarios, such as:

  • Anti-corrosion electric hoist: suitable for corrosive environments;
  • Double-drum electric hoist: suitable for occasions where simultaneous operation of double hooks is required;
  • Multi-function hoist: integrates multiple lifting and handling functions to meet the needs of complex operations.
It should be noted that electric hoists come in a wide variety and are classified based on multiple standards. When selecting an electric hoist, users should take comprehensive consideration of their actual needs and usage conditions to choose the most suitable type.
